So I recently picked up an HP Elitebook x360 1030 g2 laptop with the intention of installing a SIM Card through MetroPCS but I've been running into some issues getting the computer to recognize it. Whenever it's put in the SIM card slot, nothing happens and the computer acts like nothing was inserted and when it's put in the smart card slot the computer just recognizes it as an "unknown smart card". I have all the latest Windows Updates and drivers installed (which are recognized in the devices menu). Any advice on what to do next would be very helpful, thank you!

Did you buy WWAN card option ? Without WWAN option, SIM card is useless. Please check Device Manager, does it have one of the following WWAN devices
- HP lt4112 LTE/HSPA+ Gobi 4G Module part # 790198-005
- HP hs3110 HSPA+ Mobile Broadband Module part # 822829-005
- HP lt4211 LTE/EV-DO/HSPA+ Mobile Broadband Module part # 793116-005
It NOT, you can't use SIM card. You can buy one of the above parts and install to your machine.
Regards.
