Hi:

 

There is no such thing as a SIM card driver.

 

No doubt your notebook is missing the optional but required WWAN card which is needed to connect to the cellular network.

 

Every 840 G3 has a SIM card slot.  What 90% of them don't have is the required WWAN card.

 

You need one of these three model WWAN cards in order to connect to the cellular service:

 

HP lt4120 LTE/EVDO/HSPA+ SnapdragonT X5 LTE Mobile Broadband Module   800870-001


HP hs31110 HSPA + Intel Mobile Broadband Module    822828-001

 

Check to make sure your notebook has the required WWAN antenna wires to connect to the WWAN card for reception.
