I do not think SimplePass works in the latest versions of Windows 10.

A long time ago, for a while, SimplePass worked in Windows 10 - eventually, though, in later (more recent) versions of Windows 10, the old SimplePass code stopped working.  I suspect the failure was due to the changes in the newer Windows File system.

If you can get it to work on your old DV6, Windows Fingerprint Logon will let you use the fingerprint reader to log into Windows.

Be sure you first create your Windows PIN.

Windows PIN 

PIN assignment is mandatory to enable fingerprint reader

            Windows key > Settings > Account > Sign-in Options > PIN number

Reminder: 

Windows Hello and Fingerprint logon require that you have your Windows PIN set and ready to use.

You may already have a Windows PIN login set up and ready to go.  Should there be a problem with the PIN, in most cases, you will receive a notice from Windows that there is an issue - you can then reset the PIN as needed.
