Good Morning!

I have a simplesave external hd that i used to back up my old mac book. I have a new macbook that i is out of storage space that I would like to back up as well. If i back up this computer on the same hd, will i lose anything from my previous back up? Thanks so much!

Hi @Drummintroy

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to know Simple save external hd data backup  Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

No, backing up your new MacBook on the same SimpleSave external hard drive should not cause you to lose anything from your previous backup of the old MacBook. SimpleSave external hard drives typically use a straightforward file storage system where each backup is stored separately from others.

When you back up your new MacBook to the external hard drive, it should create a new backup file or folder separate from the one created for your old MacBook. This means that both backups will coexist on the same external hard drive without interfering with each other.

Just make sure that when you initiate the backup process for your new MacBook, you're not overwriting or deleting any existing backup files or folders from your old MacBook. Most backup software, including the one used by SimpleSave, should handle this automatically by creating a new backup folder or file for the new MacBook's data.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
