Slow download speed on HP Laptop 15s-fq2xxx

I have recently bought a laptop from HP which I planned to use for work while I am away, because of this poor judgement on my part I am now stuck with a useless lump of plastic and metal that cant reach download speeds any higher than 60kbps. this is incredibly frustrating as a internet speed test will tell me I could be reaching up to 100Mbps. I have now been out of work for 3 days as I am unable to download any of the software used for my work. I need to fix this issue ASAP. I even tried buying a wireless network adapter which had no success, my drivers are all up-to-date and this is how it has been since I opened to box.

I don't know what is the model/product of your HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000 (2D120AV) machine therefore I can't comment more.  How do you run Internet test from your machine ?

If you urgently need SPEED, please go out to any good computer store to buy something similar to the following adapter

(Buy cheaper elsewhere, not JB). You can see much better speed given you are using NBN 50 or above.
