Hello,

I upgraded my home internet connection, from DSL to optical fiber, but my laptop still navigates at the same speed (the laptop is cable-connected directly to the router, not via wi-fi).

If i connect another pc to the same cable, the speed test shows a navigation speed that is10 times faster.

Is there some extra configuration that needs to be done to the pc?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

@Maxt77

Its specs

       https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06408063

It has Integrated 10/100/1000 GbE LAN. How much do you get now ? And how much did you get before ? Depending on your old speed, it should stay the same.

Regards.

Hello,

thank you @Banhien

The old download speed (with DSL) was around 30 Mbps; New download speed (with fiber cable attached) was  around 45 Mbps.

I had some benefits applying some changes suggested in this post:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Wireless-and-Networking/Is-it-possible-to-increase-the-speed-o...

In the "advanced" tab of the network card I changed the following:

- Energy-Efficient Ethernet : from "Enabled" to "Disabled"

- Speed & Duplex : form "Auto negotiate" to "1 Gbps full duplex" ( it was already 1 Gbps, anyway)

with these changes, now the download speed is about 65 Mbps (so, a little bit better);

so my question remains...

Given the specs, what is the maximum speed the network card should reach? And, is there need to do some "fine tuning" in the options to enable the "top speed"?

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,
