Was immediately disappointed with the slow internet performance of this laptop while watching it download the initial updates. After installing some programs and their needed updates I was very concerned with the very slow download speeds (in the Kbps range, not Mbps). Was thinking it might have something to do with McAfee and contemplated removing it as I have a subscription to AVG and prefer it. Before I removed it I tried comparing the performance of the internal Realtek wifi adapter with a similar Realtek USB wifi adapter I use on my desktop. Using the Speetest.com site I was amazed at how much a difference there was. Same computer, same internet connection, same overhead...much different results. Using the internal wifi I was only able to get about 30Mbps on a 100Mbps Comcast line. With the USB wifi dongle the results were more than double. Any ideas what might be causing the disparity since all other parameters are equal? Is there some settings on the internal wifi that are different from the USB dongle that might be impacting speeds and, if so, what are they and how do I change them?Speed test-internal.jpgSpeed test-USB dongle.jpg

OK, so I just tried an experiment using the 5ghz channel on my router with the internal wifi adapter and the results were off the chart. How do you explain this?Speed test-internal-5ghz.jpg
