Hi,

 

I have an Hp Victus 15 and from one day to another the internet speed has been ruduced, at first I thought it was my router speed but when tested with other devices the speed is relatively good considering the Victus just gets to 2Mbps at best. Tried reseting the internet settings and updating the drivers but nothing changed or helped. 

Do someone knows why does this happen or what can it be.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

 

  1. Are you using Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or both? Does the slow speed happen on both connections if you test them?
  2. Did anything change on your laptop around the time this started like Windows updates, new software, VPNs, or security apps?
  3. Is the laptop showing full signal strength if you’re on Wi-Fi?
  4. Have you tried connecting to a completely different network (like a mobile hotspot) to see if the speed improves?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you could try:

  • Network Adapter Reset:
    1. Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset and follow the prompts. This reinstalls all network adapters and resets network components.
  • Check Wi-Fi Channel & Band: Make sure your laptop is connecting to the 5 GHz band if your router supports it, as 2.4 GHz can get crowded and slow.
  • Disable Background Apps: Some apps may be consuming bandwidth. Open Task Manager > Startup/Processes to see if anything is using network resources.
  • Driver Rollback: Sometimes the latest network drivers can cause issues. Try rolling back to a previous version of the Wi-Fi adapter driver via Device Manager.
  • Power Management Settings: Go to Device Manager > Network Adapter > Properties > Power Management and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”. This can prevent Wi-Fi throttling.
  • Flush DNS and Reset TCP/IP:
    Open Command Prompt as admin and run:
  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • netsh int ip reset
  • netsh winsock reset

Then restart the laptop.
