Slow internet speeds on only one device

So my HP Star Wars P5M28AV laptop is the only device in my apartment that has a slow internet connection, typically below 20mbps. I have 100+ mbps internet service from Comcast. The laptop is wireless, but is not distant from the router, and other internet devices in the same room have speeds several times what this laptop maxes out at. 

Speed comparison:

Google speed test of laptop: 11.4 down / 13.8 up

Speed test of Iphone 7 plus in same room: 138.3 down / 22.7 up.

I've downloaded drivers, gone through virtual technical support help guides, used a "network analyzer", and generally played with any and all settings that the internet tells me to. I don't remember this laptop being so slow several years ago when I bought it, but I haven't been able to find a restore point that fixes this issues.

I'm relatively PC savvy, but I don't do dives this deep often. Let me know if I can provide more info or what I can answer. I appreciate everyone looking.

Your machine is an  HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK - 15T-AB100 CTO (ENERGY STAR)  machine which only has Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi adapter .

The Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi adapter does not support higher bandwidth networs there for it is slow, much slower then your iPhone 7 plus. That is normal.

The series supports other wifi cards but your machine ONLY has 1 antenna.

Wow. You know, I hadn't even thought it would just be a hardware limitation of the network adapter, since this computer isn't all that old. I appreciate your reply! Where can I find the max speed for this adapter? If it's never going to get any faster, than I assume my next step is to purchase a usb wireless network adapter that features two antennas?
