     Paul,

Hello again.  I don't know why, but my connection here has been really bad.....in fact I had NO connection, except for my phone, since a little after 9AM until just a little bit ago....it's now 1:16PM.

Anyway, I'd hooked up my bluetooth keyboard to my phone, but couldn't get it to totally cooperate when I was finally on this site and trying to message you....I guess I could have, if I'd been able to type on my cell, but I'm terrible at that ....really slow and I normally prefer to type while I watch what's appearing on the screen...which also slows me down even more.

Anyhow, I've been also watching my laptop - just in case - and it suddenly did something to catch my eye, which when I followed up on it.....it was there and seems to be staying.....so far.    I haven't had a chance to do anything with my laptop though....kinda sore and stiff, but I still think it'll be fine (the knuckle I mean)....no real swelling and looked pretty okay when I changed the dressing...twice, so far....also been using NeoSporen (sp) which has probably helped...got that on with the second dressing before going to bed.     Hmmm, it's been at least 15 straight minutes, I think....so far, so good.  I can't help but wonder though....if maybe it doesn't have something to do with who's account it is, you know?  I've always tried to keep stuff like this paid ahead, if anything.  Hard to say if I might still try to do anything with the pin thing, I might give myself a rest, besides I've got other people here that distract me...which I hate when I'm trying to do things like this....which are bad enough when you're not in a decent working space and the eyesight could be better than it is.  I'd at least like to be able to concentrate on what I'm doing.

When you said you thought I was in California, I was going to say I was thinking 5 time zones had me treading water off the West coast.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted....and, hopefully, will be nearby.

Thanks again.

      Paul,

Hi!  I finally tried masking the pins and had to give up on the idea.   I'm pretty sure the razor blade I got was used to cut diamonds because it sure didn't want to cut tape...and I had it out of the board...undid both wires, but, and I'm sorry to have to say so, but I couldn't see well enough to do the job.  I used to have absolutely wonderful, perfect eyesight, but not any more...aslo my working conditions are abysmal. Believe it or not, I'm working, or trying to work on a tv tray!  You know, the little folding jobs you can just about cover with a typical tv dinner (reference for those of us who can remember what a tv dinner is) and need to hold everything I'm working with in my lap....and, oh, the light...what light?  Anyway I felt lucky just to get everything back together with it working the WiFi....I guess I'll go shopping (online) for a USB Bluetooth dongle.  Maybe I'll get a better place to work and some magnifiers I can wear along with some good light AND a sharp blade and try masking the pins again....someday!

I did want to tell you something I discovered though....before taking out the card to try what I just told you about I played at doing everything I could think to try first....and I found - going through "Advanced" a ways into device manager a setting in the left column called bluetooth and the box on the right side of the box saying "off, or disabled"  I thought I'd gotten lucky and switched that to "enabled"   got it put mostly back together and tried it.....Nothing.  But I hadn't noticed that method, or even anything close to it that anyone else had mentioned....anyway, it's there...I found it...even though it didn't work for me it might for somebody else, so wanted to let you know I'd found it....good luck with that.

Anyhow, I guess I'm off to search for an affordable dongle that maybe won't stick too far out of the port to use for Bluetooth.

I'll let you know how that goes and maybe you'll even hear from me, if I ever get to where I can try some tape again.

Meanwhile, thanks for all your help and listening to me about all this.  We tried.

You're very welcome.

Sorry you weren't able to mask the pins easily.

Yes, it is very hard to do when you don't have the right tools.

An exacto-knife kit would probably have been much better to do that kind of work with.

I also use TV trays to work on notebook PC's with.

They are a bit wobbly but they do the job fairly well.

I used to have a set of 4 on one of those carts but I am only down to two trays and no cart.

I don't remember what happened to those.

Amazon has some fairly reasonable Bluetooth adapters.

I use this one on my desktop PC, and it works fine on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Amazon.com: Kinivo USB Bluetooth Adapter for PC BTD-400 (Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle Receiver, Low Energy) ...

If you want a more modern Bluetooth version--5.0, Amazon has one like this...
