WIFI drops about once every 15 minutes. I run the Windows 11 troubleshooter, which comes back with "The DHCP server isn't responding." I've tried updating drivers, changing settings, forgetting the connection, reconnecting to WIFI, and deleting the driver to let Windows reinstall on reboot. The only temporary fix is to turn off the laptop's Wi-Fi, wait a second, and turn it back on every 15 minutes!

Hi dnorenberg
The message "The DHCP server is not responding" suggests a connection issue between your computer and the server that assigns IP addresses (DHCP). Here are some solutions you can try:
Restart your router and modem:
Turn off your router and modem, wait about 30 seconds, and then turn them back on. This often resolves temporary issues.
Renew your IP address:
Press Windows + R, type cmd, and hit Enter.
In the command prompt, enter the following commands one at a time, pressing Enter after each:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
- This will request a new IP address from the DHCP server.
3. Update your network adapter driver:
Right-click the Start button and choose "Device Manager."
Under "Network adapters," right-click your active adapter and select "Update driver."
4. Manually configure your network connection:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Change adapter options.
Right-click your active connection, select "Properties," and then choose "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)."
Ensure that both "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are selected.
5. Check your router:
Ensure your router's firmware is up to date. Refer to the router's manual or the manufacturer's website for instructions.
If issues persist, consider resetting the router to factory settings (but save important configurations first).
6. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP):
If none of the above works, the problem might be with your ISP. Reach out to their customer support for assistance.
I hope the above is helpful!
