HP ZBook 17 G6 Mobile Workstation
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP ZBook 17 G6 Mobile Workstation which has 2 x USB Type C Thunderbolt 3 ports. I want to know if they are really are Thunderbolt 3 ports as I have red they are only with Apple Machines as it is patented by them. I'm interested in buying a Benq 32 inch 4K Thunderbolt 3 Monitor with Display P3 | PD3220U, but asking Benq they never got back to me. I don't really want to fork out more than 1000€ to find out I don't have connectivity. I have no other way of testing my laptop as I don't have any Thunderbolt 3 devices.

If they are true Thunderbolt 3 ports, there are 2 and is one for power and the other output? I haven't had a feedback from HP either and the manuals are very clear on this subject. I have know idea of what Thunderbolt 3 devices I can connect to.

Can anybody help me please..

Mike

It has following ports

Left side
(1) RJ-45/Ethernet
(2) USB 3.1 Gen 1
(1) USB 3.1 Gen 1 (charging)
(1) Security lock slot (sold separately)

Right side
(2) USB Type-C 3 (Thunderbolt 3, pass through support DisplayPort 1.4, USB 3.1 Gen 2, with BC 1.2)
(1) HDMI 2.0b (HDMI port-cable not included; HDMI 2.0b with discrete, 1.4 with UMA)
(1) Stereo microphone in/headphone-out combo jack
(1) Mini DisplayPort 1.4 (Mini DP 1.4 with discrete, 1.2 with UMA)
(1) Power connector

You can connect

  1. Thunderbolt™ 3 to a compatible 4K monitor or
  2. Thunderbolt™ 3 to DisplayPort 4K monitor with a right adapter
  3. HDMI 2.0b to a 4K monitor using HDMI 2 or above cable

For a & b, you can daisy chain other monitor.
