So for the last few days, my touch pad will work fine for a minute or so and then will just go crazy so it's impossible to do work. I'd rather not go to a shop to get it checked but I really need it fixed as my A levels are soon! Please help

Open the 'device manager', see the touchpad driver and its version in the "mice and other pointing devices" category, is there a warning sign?
Also expand the "human interface devices" and "software components" categories, is the touchpad driver safe or not?
The part of the touchpad driver as in my picture, from the left is the software components type, the middle is the driver itself (type mice and other pointing devices), the right is the human interface devices type.

Also look at the keyboard, is there a touchpad lock button?
To unlock a locked laptop touchpad from the keyboard, try pressing the Fn button together with the function key that has a touchpad icon (usually F6, F8, or a button with a touchpad icon)

Or you can use the keyboard:

  • press the windows logo + I which will open the windows settings
  • type touchpad in the search
  • select the option 'Turn the touchpad on or off'
