HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I currently have an HP OJ Pro 9025e available via WiFi (router is WiFi 6 dual band) to one computer (A).

I need to give another computer (B) access to that printer, but (B) is a bit too far away from the router and I have just installed a WiFi extender that I hope will give (B) better wifi and also let the (B) get to the printer.

But (A) uses the original SSID for the printer, and (B) will be connecting to WiFi via a different SSID. Is this a problem? Is there anything I need to do to let two computer print using the same printer but with different SSIDs?

Advice will be much appreciated!

Hi @KinNC

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

To connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e printer to a Wi-Fi extender while keeping the old SSID (Wi-Fi network name) available, you can follow these steps:

  1. Prepare the Printer: Make sure your printer is powered on and in a ready state.

  2. Access the Printer's Control Panel: Use the printer's control panel to navigate through the settings. The exact steps may vary based on your printer's model, but it usually involves pressing the printer's touch screen.

  3. Connect to Wi-Fi: You will need to connect the printer to the new SSID (the Wi-Fi network provided by your Wi-Fi extender). Follow these general steps:

    • Locate the Wi-Fi settings or setup menu on your printer.
    • Select "Wireless" or "Wi-Fi Setup" option.
    • Choose the option to set up a new wireless connection.
    • The printer should scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your extender's SSID from the list.
    • Enter the Wi-Fi password for your extender network if required. This is usually the same password you use to connect your other devices to the extender.
  4. Configure Network Settings: After successfully connecting to the new SSID (Wi-Fi extender's network), your printer will have a new IP address. You may need to check the printer's network settings and configure the new IP address manually if it doesn't obtain one automatically through DHCP.

  5. Check Printer IP Address: Go to your printer's control panel and check the IP address. Note it down, as you may need it to access the printer later.

  6. Keep Old SSID: To ensure your printer remains accessible on the old SSID, you'll need to set up your extender in a way that allows devices on the old SSID to communicate with devices on the extender's SSID. You can typically do this by disabling client isolation or enabling a setting like "Guest Network Access" on your extender.

  7. Test Both SSIDs: Ensure that your printer is accessible and functional when connected to the new SSID (extender's network) and that you can also access it from devices on the old SSID. You can print a test page from both networks to confirm.

By following these steps, you should be able to connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e printer to a Wi-Fi extender while still keeping the old SSID available for other devices to use.

If this does not work, then I recommend you contact phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
