I have HP15 BS164TU, I cant connect USB 2.0 in my notebook. When I troubleshooted it then the problem was the USB storage device is older and cant be connect to USB 3.0 ports. also, it doesn't shows up in my PC. but I can see it in device and printers.

I understand that you are facing issues with the USB not getting detecting, need not worry I'll be glad to assist you.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Did you try with the different port?
Did you check with the alternate USB?
I would suggest you update the BIOS and the chipset on your notebook using this link: https://hp.care/2MB0gCY
Keep me posted, how it goes! However, I'll try and follow up in next 24 to 48 hours to doublecheck on the issue.

Recently I reset my notebook. I installed each and every driver from HP website. USB 2.0 was working properly before resetting, but now whenever I connect a USB 2.0 to my notebook, it doesn't shows up in 'THIS PC' but I can see it in printers and drivers. From there I troubleshooted the device and the message came as in the screenshot.

Use this link: https://hp.care/2M6RSKo and follow all the troubleshooting steps "except - Front USB ports do not work on a desktop computer." and also please make sure you perform steps under - USB 2.0 Device Does Not Work When Connected to a USB 3.0 Port

Right click on the usb 3.0 then click "un-install". Once done re-start the computer and check if it works. 🙂
