Pavillion x360 14-cd1000na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hi
I recently bought a Nllano USB-C to LAN Ethernet adaptor from Amazon and it seemed to work OK.  However, I cannot make it connect fully with my WD My cloud Mirror 2 NAS storage with WiFi turned off.  In this state, Internet access on Ookla Speedtest shows about 200MB/s (Virgin IP limit) and the WD admin web page can be accessed but WD shared folders cannot be seen with Windows file explorer.  Strangely, a Netgear ReadyNAS on the same network works ok, and I have an older HP Pavillion DV6 laptop with W10 that works fine with the integrated RJ45 port, so the problem seems to be in the x360 USB/Ethernet driver or Windows 10.

The following Network Adaptors are shown by Run Cmd, netcfg -s n:
pci\ven_10ec&dev_c821&subsys_831a103c Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter
usb\vid_0bda&pid_8153&rev_3000 Realtek USB GbE Family Controller
usb\vid_0bda&pid_8153&rev_3100 Realtek USB GbE Family Controller #2

I have tried:
Installing the latest driver for the USB-C adaptor (Realtek USB GbE Family Controller #2, Ver: 10.7.218.2016).
Updating all associated Ethernet and USB drivers.
Updating the Pavillion x360 BIOS.

Does anyone know a way to fix this or have similar problems?

For anyone interested, I have solved the problem now.

It turns out that Microsoft removed SMB 1.0 protocol from the October update for W10 and this previously enabled the NAS drive to be shown in file explorer.  Now you have to manually find it at '\\ipaddress' before the option of drive mapping can be used.

I also tried a newer driver from Realtek but I think part of the fix may be linked to disabling 'Green Ethernet' in the advanced properties of the Realtek USB GbE card.  When I finish the job that has been delayed by this Network problem and feel brave, I may  try re-enabling the 'Green Internet' property to see if if really has any effect.
