HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y3AV)

tldr: How do I test USB port configuration is capping transmit speed on a connected aftermarket wireless adapter?

Connected a Plugable wifi 6 adapter to USB port and speed test tops out at 200 mbps.  Adapter worked correctly on previous HP laptop getting speeds of 400 mbps.  Reviewed issue with both adapter manufacturer and wifi router manufacturer.  Best guess is the USB port is capping the transfer speeds.

I have searched on how to test this transfer rate but am not finding anything which applies to this configuration of laptop and operating system.  Any help would be appreciated?

I know what the rated speed is for the port.  What I am trying to do is see if it is performing at that transfer rate.  Is there a speed test that can be performed on a wifi 6 network to confirm it is working?  I don't think pinging the router will do so, but perhaps I just need to use the stats to compute transfer rates.

Hi @MikeNugent78,

I am sorry to hear that the above steps did not help much and the support here is limited.

For more information related to finding the speed of the wifi 6 adapter, You wil have to look for that information online.

Take care and have a good day.
