Hi, I'm having difficulty installing the WLAN Driver for Windows 10 like everyone else. I've been trying to do so using the Support Assistant, which recommends the following: SoftPaq number sp87786, ver 20.60.0.7 size 114.21 MB.
After looking through the solutions to similar queries I'm suspecting that the recommended driver isn't the right one for my laptop model.
Would anyone please kindly advise me on how to resolve the issue? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you 🙂

Go to the device manager, click to expand the network adapters device manager category.
Click on the Intel (R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 wifi adapter.
Click on the driver tab, and it should show the driver version and date.
Now the driver version should match, but the date may be a little different.
The date of Feb 15, 2019 is the date HP released the driver.
The actual driver date showing in the device manager will probably be a little bit older than that.

Hi:
What model wifi adapter does your notebook come with?
If you don't know, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network adapters device manager category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.
The wifi adapter is not listed in the parts list for your model.

I think it's a Intel (R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265!

I installed the file attached above! How can I check if it's properly installed?

Hm... Instead of saying 20.110.0.3 it says 20.70.5.2. I tried reinstalling it too and overwriting the files but to no avail.

Hi:
Here's the answer...from the latest driver directly from Intel...Apparently the driver installs different versions based on the model wifi adapter...
So if you install the below driver, which is version Version: 21.0.0, you will end up with 20.70.7.1.
Purpose
The 21.0.0 package installs the Windows® 10 Wi-Fi drivers for the following Intel® Wireless Adapters:
21.0.0.5 for 9560/9260/9462/9461 (Only available in 64-bit version)
20.70.7.1 for 8265/8260 (Only available in 64-bit version)
19.51.19.1 for 7265(Rev. D)/3165/3168
18.33.15.11 for 7265(Rev. C)/7260/3160
