So I just install a fresh copy of Win7 Ultimate 64bit version and I"m having the hardest time to get a driver install for the Wireless network adapter.

I been download the adapter and try to install at least 5/6 times but it still won't show up in my device manager nor I'm able to turn on the radio/satellite icon in my keyboard to turn on the wireless adapter.

I spend the last 2 hrs trying to get this to work without any success.

Hello warrantt,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you cannot install a wireless network adapter on your computer. I'll do my best to assist you! Here are the two available for your notebook:

Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver

Ralink 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter

Try downloading and installing one. If the first one doesn't work, try the second one. Please let me know your results, and any errors you see. Thanks!

I installed a fresh copy of windows 7 on this laptop as well but I cannot get the drivers to install.

I have downloaded both the broadcom and the ralink from the software downloads section.  The software for broadcom installs to the folder C:\swsetup\SP57965 and the ralink software installs to C:\swsetup\SP56036.

After the broadcom installation completed, it started to install the driver but then just quits before I can press ok.  No notification or anything.  I have tried to run the software from the folder but it still will not do anything.

Same thing for the ralink driver, I have tried installing it multiple times but it never works.  I have also tried using the windows 7 trouble shooter, with no help.  I have tried using the HP software assistant, as well as the support solutions and installation assistance.  Nothing seem to be working.

I have tried going to device manager and all I find is the unknown device "network controller", which I assume is the wlan hardware.  I have tried updating the driver manually by using the information found int he broadcom folder but it will not accept any of the driver information for any of the listed drivers under that folder.

The strange part is that I did this last year and it worked fine.  The wifi has been working without a problem.  I just formatted my harddrive so that I can have a nice fresh system to work with when Windows 10 is released but I just cannot seem to get this network controller to work.

I'm having the exact same issue with my Pavilion laptop. The driver installer crashes. Is there an alternate way to install the driver?
