Hi,

I was facing some problems with my wifi driver so I decided to uninstall and re-install it. After uninstalling the driver from device manager, I downloaded the driver from the HP official drivers website and tried to install it. It is not working for me. The setup file appears to launch setup wizard, but nothing actually happens. The wizard just disappears.

I am using HP Pavilion 15-p017tu Notebook

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit)
Setup file that I downloaded is named SP71994

Hi:

W10 should have automatically installed a driver for the Broadcom BCM43142 wifi adapter that the parts list indicates your notebook comes with.

I recommend that you try the newer Broadcom driver for W10:

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, Windows 10 automatically installs a driver for the Broadcom wifi adapter, however, the driver gets hidden in the device manager after a few hours. I have to uninstall it again to fix it.

I was thinking installing the latest/compatible driver might fix this issue. I will try the newest driver that you suggested and see if it works.

You're very welcome.

If you continue to have problems, I recommend that you replace the Broadcom Wi-Fi card with this model, which is an equivalent model that is single band Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter.

Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11bgn 1×1 + BT 4 LE Combo Adapter  HP part # 753077-001.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

Or you can always buy a USB Wi-Fi adapter and use that for Wi-Fi and the Broadcom card for Bluetooth.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I am not able to install the newest driver. Setup wizard appears to launch but then nothing happens.

I guess the problem is with the wifi card. I will follow your suggestion and will either try to replace the card, or use a USB wifi adapter.

Thank you again for your time.
