Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I recently got interested in upgrading my wifi card just to make the computer a bit faster for streaming and downloading.  I currently have a Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn and at first decided to upgrade to an Intel ax200.  That was a mistake and I learned that some laptop brands have a whitelist of compatible network cards.  So I chose the best thing on the whitelist for my laptop model and it was the Intel 7265.  I received it today and installed it and got a code 10 error.  I tried many things to no avail (latest drivers, uninstalling the device driver then reinstalling, scanning for hardware changes, etc...).  The bluetooth works fine but the wifi would not.  The thing is the card I got came out of a Lenovo, but I didn't think that would've mattered.  My question is, assuming there's no way to make either of these cards I've purchased work, do you think an HP brand intel 7265 card would work?  They're only $10 each, but at this point I now have 2 worthless cards lying around and am not keen on making it 3.

Welcome to HP Support community.

I suggest you make use of the external USB network adapter instead as it's a plug and play and you need not worry about compatibility issues

that's my personal opinion, however, if you wish to get more information on wireless upgrades, you could check the service and maintenance guide page no. 19:- Click here

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
