HP Notebook - 17-by2000na

Hello , I currently own the HP Notebook - 17-by2000na and I am wondering if it if possible to upgrade the current Wi-Fi chip module to a more up to date one such as wifi 6 or 6e for future proofing as I have a wifi 6 router

Thank you

Hi:

It would be difficult for you to do that because the Realtek RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter only comes with one antenna wire and a wifi6 card would require two antenna wires.

If you want to order the dual antenna kit listed in chapter 3 of the service manual and go through an extensive disassembly procedure to install the second antenna wire, you should be able to upgrade to either one of these cards.

Thank you for replying , I think I will leave the WiFi card as is , I will probably break something more important trying to swap it out 😀

Would it be possible to upgrade to a wifi 6 card that doesn’t include Bluetooth , maybe that will only use one antenna cable ?

Thank you

You're very welcome.

If you don't need Bluetooth, you can install either one of the cards I posted but there may be some slight Wi-Fi signal degradation.

I'm not 100% sure that 100% of one antenna wire is used for the Wi-Fi, and the other antenna wire 100% for Bluetooth.

The only way to know for sure is to try one and see.

The antenna wire would connect to the Wi-Fi 6's Main antenna terminal, not the auxiliary one.

Thanks again for a speedy reply , I could just try one of the cards you listed above and try and install both antennas , I’ll look for a YouTube video and see how difficult it is

Thank you Paul
