Solved!

Upgrading WiFi card and RAM

Pavilion dv6 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My WiFi is not able to go as fast as the speed I pay for from the cable company.  I figure if I am paying for it I should be able to go that fast.  How do I know what will work in my notebook?  Same question as the RAM. I presently have 4GB and would like to increase that to as much as I can.

Please tell me what I need to know, in laymen terms, to purchase what I need.

Thanks!

Upgrading WiFi card and RAM

I kow the product number, A3E54UA.  I found a Quantum Technology RAM with the same model HP says I need but I do not know if it will work.  I hate getting anything that is not HP specific...and the Wifi list on the product specs sheet is long and extremely unclear.  Any help would be appreciated.

Regards!

Upgrading WiFi card and RAM

Hi,

Your machine is an HP Pavilion dv6-6112nr Entertainment Notebook PC:

    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02996687

1. For WiFi: your machine was built around 2011 therefore upgrading wifi is out of question. You can use USB dongle if you wish.

2. For RAM: Your machine supports 16GB max (it has 4GB from start). Please check page 66 of the following manual to get part number. You can buy from HP or elsewhere.

       http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842252.pdf

The manual also shows you how to add/replace RAM. More manual:

Regards.

Upgrading WiFi card and RAM

Thank you for confirming about my WiFi.  You say my PC can go to 16GB RAM but when I review page 66 there is no mention of a part for the 16GB RAM.  Are there two DIMM's or one?

Thank you again!

Upgrading WiFi card and RAM

I want to buy 2x8GB RAM DDR3 SDRAM for my PC, Pavilion dvr6-6112nr Entertainment Notebook. Product #A3E54UA-ABA Intel i5 2.30 GHz.  Is that enough information?

I now know it has two slots but I apparently need to know so much more! Because when I search for it I do not understand the differences, Non-ECC; ECC; SORAM; 1068; etc.

How many pins do I need? Do I need ECC or non Ecc? I really am so confused!

Thank you in advance for your help!
