HP Laptop 15-f387wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an  HP Laptop Model # 15-f387wm.  I bought this computer new several years ago for very cheap on WM clearance.  I have upgraded a few things (hard drive, memory, etc.) but have never changed a wireless card before.

I just purchased a mesh wifi 6 system.  I would like to upgrade the wireless card to wifi 6 and and include bluetooth while I'm at it, because HP put the absolute cheapest of everything in this laptop.  (I have a USB bluetooth but it has issues staying connected.)  I only have one antenna going to the current wireless card (see picture).   Is this going to be an issue when I change out?  I have also read about making sure certain cards were on an HP whitelist but from what I've read it doesn't seem to affect this model.

I would appreciate any advice, links, etc. on which card to buy.  Thank you!

Hi:

Unfortunately, in order for a dual band HMC Wi-Fi card to have both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work correctly, your notebook needs to have two antenna wires connected to the card.

What you can do is to buy this dual band AC card with Bluetooth, and you will at least have AC wifi.

You should be able to find the above model Wi-Fi card on eBay.  Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

You can experiment with the antenna placement.

On the main terminal you will have the best Wi-Fi reception, but I think the Bluetooth works off the Auxiliary terminal.

See what kind of Wi-Fi/Bluetooth reception you get with the antenna placed on the Auxiliary terminal.

Another option would be to buy a USB dual band Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter.
