Hello, I am having a frustrating issue with my PC device's VPN connection.
This happens mostly when I am in my house, where I spend most of my time doing all my typical stuff of writing, studying, etc.
The VPN connection issue occurs mostly:
- When I am downstairs in the basement of my house, during the day. At certain points and periods during the day, the connection would magically disconnect by itself, and I'd receive annoying errors every few seconds saying "VPN is reconnecting" or "trying to disconnect", something like that. And it's frustrating to me because I don't know why this is happening.
The Wi-Fi connection router of my whole house is located upstairs in my bedroom of the house (which at some point when I was little, used to be a general study room area, with printers and stuff back then). So, whenever the Wi-Fi of the whole house is acting up for any other devices (like my PC for one, as well as cell phones, the television screens, etc.), I'd have to go up to my room to turn off the router for a minute or two, then turn it back on, and then all the devices would automatically reconnect. Obviously, this includes my PC too.
But when I'm upstairs in my bedroom for the day (after leaving the basement for the day), the VPN connection is working just fine. Not once does it magically disconnect or anything; it remains stable and steadily connected all through the whole time I'm using it. So, I'd have to wake up earlier at around 4 or something in the morning to be able to use my PC and keep working on my writing, my studies, my personal businesses and affairs. I can also do it in my kitchen and living room,
But when it comes SPECIFICALLY to my presence in the BASEMENT, that's when the connection issues continue. Magically disconnecting itself, then reconnecting with the annoyance of "No internet access" at times, and it's so frustating because I don't understand what the difference is between my physical presence up in my bedroom, as opposed to being down in my basement, and the VPN connection always acting off when I'm in the basement, even though it's the SAME WI-FI ROUTER for the whole house. So, it's like no matter where I am in the house (kitchen, living room, the basement during the day, and my bedroom up in the evening and at night), I feel like the VPN connection should always be stable and steady.
Like now, at this moment, I'm sending this message from up in my bedroom. The connection to the VPN is currently stable and steady. I can imagine if I were in my basement right now at this moment, it'd be shaky and start losing connection for NO APPARENT REASON, other than to completely frustrate me.
The VPN's Connection Settings that I have currently set up:
- Auto Connect: Always
- Split Tunneling (on)
- Exclude software updates (on)
- Exclude apps from VPN (on)
- Show Notifications (when VPN is on/off): This is where I get the annoying message when I'm down in the basement that the VPN is "trying to reconnect" when it just happens to magically disconnect itself.
- Kill Switch (on)
- Reconnect after restarting (Yes, on)
- Access Local Devices with VPN (Yes)
- Enable Multiple Active VPNs (No, off): Could this be the reason why this occurs whenever I am in my basement?
- VPN Protocol Settings: Automatic
- Post-Quantum Encryption (confused by what this means, so this is OFF)
