I had issues with VPN and on the instruction of my third party (Norton) Internet Security provider I deleted WANMiniport IKEv2/ IP/ IPv6.
The next step was to reinstall them. It would appear from the instructions that the third party expected it to be automatic.
You can download everyother kind of driver except for these 3. Where are they?!
They do not appear in windows update, nor when you scan for hardware changes.
Another user had exactly the same issue and was directed here https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/hp-envy-17-bw0000-laptop-pc-series/model/21869542 but I dont know which ones are WanMiniport drivers.
Thanks in advance

Hi @LF20,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The WAN Miniport drivers, including IKEv2, IP, and IPv6, are essential for network connectivity and VPN functionality. These drivers are built into Windows and are typically managed by the operating system. If they are missing or corrupted, you might encounter issues with network connections and VPNs. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you restore these drivers:
1. Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Network Adapter: Select Network Adapter and run the troubleshooter. It can sometimes automatically detect and fix network-related issues.
2. Reinstall WAN Miniport Drivers Manually
- Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Click on View and select Show hidden devices.
- Look for Network adapters. You should see entries for WAN Miniport drivers (they might be listed under "Network adapters" or "Other devices").
- Right-click on any entry for WAN Miniport drivers and select Uninstall device. If prompted, check the box to delete the driver software for this device.
- Restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the missing WAN Miniport drivers.
3. Reinstall Network Adapters
- Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Right-click each network adapter listed (including WAN Miniport drivers if they are visible) and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your computer. Windows will automatically detect and reinstall the network adapters and WAN Miniport drivers.
4. Manually Add WAN Miniport Drivers Using Windows Installation Media
- Using DISM Command:
- Insert a Windows installation media (DVD or USB) or mount an ISO.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator (right-click Start and select Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin)).
Check for Windows Updates
- Update Windows: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Install any pending updates, as they may include important driver updates and fixes.
6. Restore from a Backup
- If you have a system backup or restore point from before the issue occurred, you might restore your system to that point. This can undo any changes that led to the missing drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you, I did try all the steps and nothing worked. I didn't have Windows installation media so while it wasn't something that I wanted to do I updated to Windows 11, the drivers reappeared and now VPN works.
Thanks for your time
