I would like to upgrade the internal wifi card to a dual band (AC) wifi card. I've tested my laptop with an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 that I took from other laptop, but it is not recognized. The system even doesn't start.

Can You tell me which brands/models are compatible?

Thank You in advance

Yes well this is never pleasant to discuss but your laptop has a whitelist in the BIOS that will prevent the computer's booting up with anything other than a small group of HP approved wireless cards that were current models when the laptop was new. None will be 802.11ac compatible as that did not yet exist when the laptop was new. No point in anger or recriminations this is thoroughly documented and vetted and there is no solution I would recommend. You may find some extreme solutions on the internet if you search hard enough like modded BIOS. Just google HP wireless whitelist.

I'm sad but I do understand...

Would it be possible to do that kind of upgrade (to Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160) in the HP Pavilion 15-b113sp Sleekbook D9T53EA, since it is a more "recent" model?

Thank You once again for Your kind support.

Best regards

Possibly. The issue you face on newer laptops is if they only have one antenna. But the model you ask about 15-b113sp is still old enough to probably have a whitelist. Generally it is 4th gen Intel processors and above that are free of it.
