Pavilion DV71-6000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP-Pavilion dt71-6000  -  Bios Firmware revision F.1B - with this being the last BIOS upgrade available, did HP remove the whitelist from the BIOS so that other WIFI cards can be used?

And if not, then from this BIOS, what WIFI cards are now supported?

I need to get a 5MHz capable WIFI card to run in this laptop. Thanks!

Hi:

Unfortunately, regardless of what BIOS update you have there are no known dual band wifi cards that will work in the dv7t-6000 model series.

No BIOS update removed the whitelist or added support for dual band wifi cards.

Thanks for the information. Too bad that they couldn't have unlocked the whitelist before abandoning the firmware upgrades. Looks like I'll have to go and find a 5MHz Wifi USB to work in conjunction with the onboard 2.4MHz to get dual band usage.

You're very welcome.

Somone out in cyberspace may have written a BIOS mod for your notebook's model series to remove the whitelist, but installing it would be risky.
