I appreciate your efforts, this sounds like software glitch that's why you were able to see 5G earlier.

If your adapter supports 802.11a and  802.11ac. then it will support 5GHz. You can check network adapter settings,  go to Device Manage then right-click on the network adapter click Properties and then select Advanced tab and check for 5GHz mentioned.
