what is the difference between 1HC91AA and 5TW4AA WWAN cards?

Hi:

From what I can tell, there isn't any difference except that the 5TW4AA is an aftermarket card that is supported in more models.

See page 3 of the quickspecs.

Thank you so much for your response.

I've had a look at that pdf and the 5TW42AA  is 'new' and has G2 added. So, what does G2 mean?

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

The G# in any HP PC or server stands for 'Generation'

For example  your Elitebook 830 G5 is a generation 5 and it differs from the older 830 G4, G3, G2, G1.. in many ways including processor and chipset and some accessories such as the model wifi adapter.

But I don't see what the technical differences are in the HP lt4132 LTE/HSPA+ 4G WWAN G2 New, and the HP lt4132 LTE/HSPA+ 4G WWAN.

I recommend that you call HP sales or technical support in the UK and see if they can provide more specific information.

There is also that statement that in order to install the G2 card, the notebook has to be configured to do so at purchase.

Thanks for your reply.  My Elitebook has the necessary hardware for WWAN, so I still need to know whether I should go for the G2 or not.

I will call HP on Monday as was my original intention today.  I thought perhaps I might get a definitive answer here, but obvously not.

Take care.

Michael

Anytime.

Since I don't work for or represent HP, and have no access to any info other than what is available to the general public, sorry that my answers did not meet your expectations.

If you want my 2 cents worth, I highly recommend you get one of the two supported WWAN cards with the HP part numbers that are listed in the service manual to avoid any issues.

Chapter 3, page 25, item 17.

Your PC may have a BIOS whitelist, which prevents any WWAN cards not listed in the service manual from working, which is why HP may have provided those cautionary statements regarding purchase and installation.

I wish you good luck with your project.

I am so sorry, I had not intended to give that impression that you were bing unhelpful.  I really do appreciate your comments and I did get in touch with HP.  You may like to see a transcript of the 'chat' that I had.   I am still particulalry puzzled by the implication that one plugs in to the WWAN module and the other plugs in to the SSD slot! Or, have I misunderstood??

(I have changed the name of the agent to 'HP Agent' as I thought that was reasonable)

I have an Elitebook 830 G5 (3JW91EA#ABU) and am interested in the WWAN card. What is the difference between 1HC91AA and 5TW42AA? 'G2' is the only change in the description, but I do not know what it means.

Michael:
I don't understand what all that means. Both cards can be inserted into the slot inside the computer. I still don't know what the G2 means and is it a great improvment on the non-G2 item?
12:02 PM
HP Agent:
The comparable wwan cad for the unit is 845710-003 WWAN Macan ME906S LTE w/GPS M.2 And L15398-001 WWAN HP IT4210 LTE/HSPA+ w
12:03 PM
HP Agent:
they are for separate slots in the PC both have the same function.
12:04 PM
Michael:
There's only one slot for a WWAN card inside the computer. Where's the other one?
12:05 PM
HP Agent:
M.2 is to put where you connect the M.2 SSD slot
12:07 PM
Michael:
That's the Solid state drive - do I then lose the drive. That doesn't make sense.
12:08 PM
HP Agent:
Please use the below part , you can put it in the wwan slot
12:08 PM
HP Agent:
L15398-001 WWAN HP IT4210 LTE/HSPA+ w

Michael:
Ok that's the non-G2 item is it? But, I still don't know in layman's terms what the difference is. Do they both operate in exactly the same way?
12:10 PM
HP Agent:
Yes, only difference is the slot they can be put in.
12:12 PM
HP Agent:
Is there any other technical issue that I can assist you with?
12:12 PM
Michael:
Ok - seems a bit odd to lose the SSD drive. I'll get the non-G2 items then. Is it available from HP?
