Hi Community,

I have above laptop and would like to configure it for Wake on LAN. I would like to know whether above laptop supports it, Do I need to install any specific BIOS/LAN firmware ?

If supported, where is the option to set in the BIOS?

Greetings,

Alvaro

Unfortunately you do not have the Wake On LAN Option in the BIOS.

Thank you

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I understand that you would like to configure your Notebook to Wake on Lan

I'll try my best to help

- Search for Device Manager on your HP ENVY dv7-7240us

Device Manager

- Expand Network adapters in the device tree, select your Ethernet adapter, right-click it and then select Properties.

Network Adapter

- Then select the Power Management tab and check off all three boxes shown below.

Power Management

- Next select the Advanced tab, scroll down in the Property box and select Wake on Magic Packet and ensure that it is enabled in the Value list box then click OK.

Magic Packet

Hope this helps.

Keep em posted if you need further assistance

Thank you 🙂

Thanks very much for your detailed response but I know the windows settings. The question was about BIOS settings.

I would want to know if my laptop supports that feature (wol) because I couldn't find it on the BIOS menu.

Regarding:  HP Pavilion 15-cc523ca 15.6" Laptop, Model Number 1UH03UAR#ABL

My recently purchased HP laptop does not appear to allow WoL (wake-on-LAN) in its BIOS.

Windows 10 allows WoL settings in the LAN drivers for this HP laptop, but thes settings are useless without BIOS support.

For both energy star compliance and electricity cost reduction reasons, I need to remotely wake-up this laptop.

I hereby submit a request for improvement (new feature) and ask HP to provide a BIOS update that allows WoL for this model laptop.  As a further suggestion, this BIOS capability (WoL) should be STANDARD feature in ALL HP computer and lapto BIOS firmware versions in the future.

Thank you in advance for considering this request as a priority.
