I have HPPavilionx360-Convertible laptop, purchased with Windows 10, has been upgraded to Windows 11 Home  22H2.

Windows updates has never provided an update for wifi network adapter nor has checking for update in device manager, always stated it's up to date:

Realtek RTL8822ce 802.11ac PCIe Wifi Adapter

4\13\2020

2024.0.10.214

Yet found a conversation in this community where Paul Tikkanen DID provide a link to updated version and I'm wondering where did he find it...but more importantly why didn't Windows Updates or Device Manager provide it?

Shouldn't we be able to trust these options for updates?

His link updated to:

12\24\2021

2024.0.10.226

Please advise and thanks in advance.

You're very welcome.

There's really no easy way to find the latest drivers unless you know what other HP PC's that are newer than yours exist that also use the same Wi-Fi adapter.

That is how I find the latest drivers--even for my own notebooks that have that model adapter.

The Realtek drivers on my notebook's support page (HP 255 G7) are also way out of date.

So lately, I have been going to this model's support page and using the Realtek Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers from there.

HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-3000i Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support

I gave you the last driver listed under the Network Adapters driver section.

If your notebook has an older Bluetooth driver, you may want to install that one as well.

The problem with the method I use is that as HP releases newer model notebook and desktop PC's, I have to check to see if those models have even newer drivers.

It took me over 13 years on this forum to acquire that kind of experience, so it is not something you can learn overnight.

No doubt, someday I will be switching to a different model PC to mine the drivers from, because I probably will find newer ones.

The best thing to do is to visit the forum from time to time and see if there are any recent discussions that reference newer drivers for the Realtek Wi-Fi adapter.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi:

The short answer is that if your notebook does not have W11 drivers listed on the support page, the HP Support Assistant program won't be looking for W11 driver updates for your PC, and the Microsoft Windows Update program only is as good as if and when the PC manufacturers or the PC hardware manufacturers such as Realtek upload drivers to Microsoft to include in their Windows Update program.

BTW, 2024.0.10.226 is ancient history too.

This is the latest driver:

2024.10.228.2    03/07/2023

Paul thank you.

Where are you finding the links for updated Realtek drivers?  I searched myself online before using this community and am not finding the correct site.

So...when I took advantage of Microsofts offer to upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11 for free, would you expect after doing so the Windows Updates would correspondingly look for Win 11 drivers thereafter?  What is the support page you referenced so I can look myself?  pls forgive my ignorance.

Here's another issue I encounter that makes me crazy...purchased this machine with Windows 10, took advantage of free upgrade to Windows 11 within a year of purchase...however, when I use the option on HP's site to check for updates, select your operating system... only Windows 10 is listed, no option to select Windows 11...UGH!

Come on HP...what the heck!!!!
