When I plug my HP laptop in and it’s not fully charge, it shows up with a orange light indicating that it is not fully charge and is in the process of doing so, normally tho, after reaching 100%, it shows a white light indicating that it is now at 100%. Today, when it’s reaches 100%, it still shows the orange light, so I don’t know when the laptop is done charging anymore. Not a big issue but it would be nice if there was a fix.

Hi @maxanlso,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the LED indicator on your HP laptop might be stuck or malfunctioning, since it's not switching to the white light to indicate full charge even after reaching 100%. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially fix this issue.
- Restart your laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve minor hardware glitches. Shut down your laptop completely and then restart it to see if the LED indicator behavior corrects itself.
- Check power settings: Make sure your power settings are correctly configured. Sometimes, power management settings can affect how the laptop charges and how the indicator behaves. Go to your power settings and review any settings related to battery charging or power management.
- Update BIOS and drivers: Ensure your laptop's BIOS firmware and battery drivers are up to date. HP often releases updates that address issues with battery management and charging indicators.
- Perform a power cycle: Disconnect the power adapter from your laptop, then remove the battery (if removable). Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power. Reinsert the battery (if removable) and reconnect the power adapter, then power on your laptop and check if the LED indicator behaves correctly.
Since your laptop is still charging despite the LED indicator not switching to white, it indicates that the charging functionality itself is likely unaffected. However, for peace of mind and accurate indication of when your laptop is fully charged, resolving the LED indicator issue would be ideal.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
