Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi:

I never used the Wi-Fi feature  on my Hewlett-Packard Notebook but  now I have a need to start using it so could anyone describe to me step-by-step procedure how to confirm that my Wi-Fi feature on my Laptop functions properly?

In advance - many thanks for any advice!

Hi:

Thank you for your reply - unfortunately, the ljnk you sent me FAILED, and I've received an error #400 BAD REQUEST...!

Can you send me a VALID link ASAP because as you know - an invalid link does not halp.me.

Thanks.

You're very welcome.

Sorry about that...

Here is a working link for you...

Hi:

That's 'much better '- THANKS...!

I  did NOT have the time to study the whole procedure but before I do:  we have the HP Laptop Model 2000-299WM Notebook PC with WIRELESS CONNECTION (used by my wife), and I'm using my Desktop PC and other computers since 1985  but I do NOT know anything about Wi-Fi:  could just quickly summerize for me answers to my following questions, please:

1) do we need any additional adapter/other device to 'turn on' this Wi-Fi feature in the Laptop (of course, she has the wireless adapter plugged in)

2) what are the major features and advantages/disadvantages of Wi-Fi connection and its use anyway? IF I'll get 'attracted' by your nicely put-together summary - I might try to make the Wi-Fi connection even on my Gateway GT5428 model PC connected to a separate WIRELESS ROUTER so that I have also Internet connection with another (older Pentium II PC dedicated to music applications only) in another room...! Just to avoid confusing you - this is our 'Homenetwork'  in our 2-storey house:

1st Floor:     HP-LAPTOP wirelessly-connected  to a ROUTER (No.1) to which is also our Cable TV connected

2nd Floor:    Room 1 ---> Gateway Desktop PC-I (Pentium IV, WIN 7 - Home Premium)

                        Room 2 ---> Desktop PC-II (Pentium II, with WIN-XP)

                        - Both PCs are connected to another ROUTER (No.2) separate from the ROUTER (No.1) located on 1st Fl.

NOTE:  although I 'dream' to be able to make 'my Homenetwork' work properly - some of the devices can NOT communicate with each other while trying to do data exchange.

Anyway, I would greatly  appreciate any advice in resolving this issue.

Many thanks, Paul...!
