Hp Envy x360 Convertible 13-ag0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I am having trouble with the wifi randomly disconnecting on my brand new laptop, which is a HP Envy x360 Convertible. This is the second laptop because the first one had the same exact issue. I had contacted support and they had me reinstall the drivers, reinstall the bios, system recovery, etc. We tried everything possible until eventually we ran out of solutions to try. They ended up replacing the laptop and sent me a brand new one. Well, I just received the laptop and the same issue is happening all over again. Wifi randomly disconnects and sometimes if i'm lucky it'll connect back again. When i'm not lucky, all available wifi networks disappear and it won't give me the option to connect to anything. This is very frustrating and i'm just about ready to throw in the towel. I'm hoping that someone who has had the same issue has found a permanent solution. I would hate to return the laptop because I love everything else about it.

@jfsu09,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • Have you checked with your Internet service provider?
  • Are the other devices connecting to the same network without any issue?

While you respond that that, I recommend you follow the below steps and check whether the issue is resolved.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:

1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.

2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.

3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.

4. Restart your PC and test.

It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:

1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.

2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.

3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.

4. Restart your PC and test.

Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your reply!

It's definietly not the internet. There are several other laptops in the house and multiple cellphones and none of them had an issue with the wifi. I tried your suggestions but still dealing with the same problem. I've decided to just return the laptop. As a full time student who relies heavily on using my own personal laptop for school, I need a reliable laptop and unfortunately this has become very unreliable. As much as i fell in love with the laptop, I wish it worked and didn't have problems right out the box.

Hi, was any solution found for this problem? I am having the exact same issue that was described in this post. I believe it must be something with the Intel AC 7265 Wireless card, as I've found posts from others online with the same wireless card experiencing the same issue in other laptops, but this is the only one I could find for this specific laptop. Right now all I can do is disable the Intel card entirely and use a USB Wifi adapter, which doesn't work nearly as well as the internal adapter.

Unfortunately I never did find a solution.  Technical support ran out of solutions and refunded me my money back. I went to the store a week later to buy a different laptop and they had the Envy laptop on display. Kind of ironic that it was also having the same wifi issues. I honestly believe at this point that it is an issue with the model because it seems to be a pretty common issue.

Ah that really sucks. I really like this laptop so I've been playing around with it for a few months trying to get it to work. Really sucks that a good laptop should be ruined by an issue like this. I still have a little bit of hope because the laptop comes with either a Realtek or Intel Wifi card, and I haven't heard of anyone with the Realtek card having the same issues yet. So I'm hoping to either get a replacement with the Realtek card or replace the card myself.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!
