Every time I close my laptop I have to reboot to connect to WiFi. Is there an easy fix for this?

The only suggestion I can offer would be to update the Wi-Fi driver to the latest version HP has for the RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter:

Realtek RTL8xxx Wireless LAN Drivers

2024.10.228.9   Dec 7, 2023

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried it. It says "The best drivers for your device are already installed"

You're very welcome.

What driver version is installed now?

You can check that by going to the device manager.

Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category:

Click on the Realtek Wi-Fi adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab, and there will provide the driver version and date.

Version 2024.0.10.222

That's a very outdated driver.

See if this works...

Go to the device manager.

Click on the Realtek Wi-Fi adapter.

Click on the driver tab.

Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the driver.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp150994.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

Ok, so I should have read your entire response and followed your link. I went back and realized it had a much newer version of the WiFi adapter. I installed it. So hopefully that fixes it. I will let you know. I'm not sure if it has always kicked me off right away because it's always, at the very least, several hours before I try to get back on it.

Well I had high hopes. I got back on it last night and it was still connected. But then when I got back on it tonight it had kicked me off again and I had to reboot it before it would let me reconnect.

It's now showing Date: 12/7/2023

Driver Version: 2024.10.228.9

Is that the most recent?

HP Recommended

Yes,  that's the newest driver currently available

Sorry that the updated driver didn't solve the problem.

Thank you for trying to help. I appreciate it.
