I have a Pavilion 15-dy2000, purchased in December. Windows 11, 16GB RAM. Wifi card is supposed to allow a/b/g and 2.4 or 5GHz. I run a mesh network (TPLink Deco) that allows 5GHz or 2.4GHz. The wifi in this computer degrades from >60megabits to about 2 megabits within 30 minutes every single time I use it (based on internet speed tests found on the web). I routinely have to drop the connection and reconnect to get back into useable wifi speed. I have two older HP Pavilion laptops that have never had this problem. I have tried working with HP support but other than ensuring that the wifi drivers are up to date (they are) they will not touch this problem without escalation to paid support. The only difference between this new computer and the two older ones is this one is running Windows 11. I cannot find any information that indicates that the OS would be the problem. I'm not running a VPN. I'm connecting at 5GHz. Has anyone seen this sort of issue - and found a resolution? I can't help but think this is an HP issue that should be under warranty, but HP isn't willing to actually work with me to figure it out. Thank you.

I have two of those lousy cards in my HP 255 G7's but they don't perform as poorly as yours is.
You do not have the latest Wi-Fi driver available so the only suggestion I can offer would be to install the latest driver, restart the PC and hope it makes things better. It's good for both W10 and W11.

I have not tinkered with any of the advanced Wi-Fi settings.

According to Device Manager: Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter; Driver: 2024.0.10.226 (12/24/2021). I should also note that in the Advanced Settings for this device preferred band is set to 5G first (I have to actually turn off 2.4 on my mesh network else this wifi defaults to 2.4G despite that setting). And I've tried every option available in the Wireless Mode setting (a only, b only, g only, b/g, a/g, and a/b/g - they all work the same in that they work until they degrade).

Thank you for that link. I had been working with HP to get a more recent driver and they stated that everything was already updated. This driver update may have been the secret sauce. I've been running with this for two hours now with no real degradation. If I can get through the next two days, I will update this ticket with full credit to you! Thank you!

This new driver seems to have cured all my ills. I wish HP Support could have gotten me that driver. I couldn't find it and they insisted I use the HP Assistant and Windows Update - none of which got me to this point. Thank you for such a quick response on something that has been driving me bonkers for weeks.
