Linux

Hello everyone,

I just bought this really good laptop and my only issue is that the wifi card is not well supported under linux.

I'd like to know if I can replace it with an Intel ac 9260.

From the posts I've been reading I don't think it should have any kind of whitelists, but the service manual lists only Intel ac 7265 and 3168 as compatible alternatives. It think that's because the ac 9260 is newer than the laptop.

Can someone give me some advice?

Thank you

Hi:

The card won't work correctly because it needs two antenna cables connected to it and your notebook only has one.

The Realtek 8821CE is designed to work with only one antenna cable, and it only has one terminal to connect the antenna to.

I can't guarantee this card will work, but it is the Intel equivalent card that works with one antenna...It would be a direct swap and has support for Linux according to the specs.

This would be the card with the HP part number...(L12675-001)

It seems that the BIOS has a white list, since I tried to replace the wireless card and ended having the Caps Lock blinking.

Installing the old card doens't hang the boot, but I still have to use a less than optimal driver.

I hope it'll be mainlined soon enough, in the meantime other linux users can install it from here: https://github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce
