I've had my HP Envy x360 for about a year now, and all of a sudden the WiFi keeps disconnecting whenever I close the lid or when the lid is open and the screen goes into sleep mode. Well to be more specific, my device says that I am connected to the internet, however it shows that I have no internet, when literally seconds ago I had internet before my screen when to sleep. I've updated all my drivers and even messed around with my internet setting but with no luck does it solve itself. The only solution I've had is that everything I close the lid or I let the screen go into sleep mode, I have to restart my computer. While this is a mild nuisance and a minor problem, it's rather annoying whenever I have classes or an important document open. So how exactly do I fix this problem without having to restart my computer all the time?

Hi @TheHighCouncil,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It can be frustrating when your laptop's Wi-Fi disconnects or experiences connectivity issues when the lid is closed or the screen goes into sleep mode. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Power Settings:
- Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options."
- Click on your selected power plan and choose "Change plan settings."
- Click on "Change advanced power settings."
- Under "Wireless Adapter Settings," make sure that "Power Saving Mode" is set to "Maximum Performance" or "Maximum Performance on Battery."
Update Network Drivers:
- Make sure you have the latest network drivers installed for your laptop's wireless adapter. You mentioned you've updated your drivers, but double-check that they are indeed the most recent ones available from the manufacturer's website.
Adjust Lid Close Settings:
- In Windows, go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options."
- Click on "Choose what closing the lid does" on the left sidebar.
- Make sure that "When I close the lid" is set to "Do Nothing" or "Hibernate" instead of "Sleep."
Update Windows:
- Ensure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest Windows updates and patches. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that can fix hardware-related issues.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check if there's a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop from the manufacturer's website. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve hardware issues.
Disable Fast Startup:
- Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options."
- Click on "Choose what the power buttons do" on the left sidebar.
- Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable."
- Scroll down and uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)."
Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts:
- Sometimes, third-party software or applications can interfere with your Wi-Fi settings. Try disabling or uninstalling any recently installed software that might be causing conflicts.
Reset Network Settings:
- Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet."
- Scroll down and click on "Network reset."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your network settings. This will remove all network adapters and settings, so you'll need to reconfigure your Wi-Fi connection afterward.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
