I have a 15-br158cl and my Wi-Fi card was damaged in an accident.  Since I have to replace it anyway and I am WAY out of warranty, I was wondering if I could do so with a card using one of the Intel Wi-Fi 6/6e chipsets (AX200, AX201, AX210)?  I have 2 antennae, but my original card was set for CNVIo and I have read that there may be issues since my i7 predates the 802.11ax standard.

Hi:

The parts list for your notebook indicates that it came with an Intel 3168 AC wifi adapter.

That is not a CNVIo (CRF) card.  It's just a standard wifi adapter.

The Intel 9560 AC and 9461 AC are the CRF cards that will not work in any notebook unless it had previously come with that model wifi card.

I can't 100% guarantee that this card will work, but you can give it a try if you want...It is a pretty versatile card--it is even used in HP notebooks with AMD processors.

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro  HP part # L35282-005

I see them on eBay.  Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

The card is on back order at the HP parts store.

Below is the link to the service manual.

You are correct about the CNVi on my laptop.  I was looking at multiple tabs at once and confused it with another.  My apologies.  Since that is the case, I am REALLY hoping HP is now offers a card based on the AX210 chipset (Wi-Fi 6e for 6GHz) VERY soon.
