I have a HP Envy x360 2-in-2 Laptop 14-fa0xxx and I have absolutely the same problem as Ais_Matthias in this thread:
Wifi error code 43 - HP Support Community - 8606698
"
The WiFi adapter is no longer accessible to establish WiFi connections in the Windows Task Pane. The Device Manager says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". HP PC Harware Diagnostics UEFI, component test, Wireless Module test says "passed", so it is apparently not a hardware issue. Restarting the notebook does not change the issue. Disabling and re-enabling the device in the Device Manager does not change the issue.
The problem first occurred after the notebook was woken up from some hibernation mode, so I suspect the WiFi adapter has ended up in some permanent power-down error state.
Similar issues were reported in this forum before, but I could not see an answer.
How can I access the WiFi adapter?"
Did someone found a solution for that sustainable? I don't want to de- and reactivate the driver all 2 weeks.

Hi @ArgjentA,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code "43" indicates that Windows detected an issue with your WiFi adapter, but since the HP Diagnostics tool suggests no hardware problems, it's likely a software issue or driver conflict. The problem might persist due to improper power management or corrupted driver settings. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix this issue.
Update or Roll Back the WiFi Driver
- Update:
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expand Network adapters.
- Right-click your WiFi adapter and choose Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- If Windows doesn’t find a newer driver, download the latest driver from the HP support website or the WiFi adapter manufacturer (e.g., Intel or Realtek).
- Roll Back (if the issue occurred after a driver update):
- In the same context menu, select Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver.
Reset Network Settings
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Scroll down and click Network reset.
- Restart your laptop.
Disable Fast Startup
The issue may stem from power management during hibernation. Disabling Fast Startup might help:
- Press Win + R, type control, and press Enter to open the Control Panel.
- Navigate to Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
- Save changes and restart your laptop.
Modify Power Management Settings
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click your WiFi adapter > Properties > Power Management tab.
- Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
- Click OK.
Uninstall and Reinstall the WiFi Adapter
- In Device Manager, right-click the WiFi adapter and select Uninstall device.
- Check Delete the driver software for this device (if available), then confirm.
- Restart your laptop.
- Windows should automatically reinstall the default driver. If not, install the driver manually from HP’s website.

Perform a Clean Boot
To check if third-party software is causing the problem:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Services tab and check Hide all Microsoft services.
- Click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all startup items.
- Restart your laptop and check if the WiFi works.
Check for Windows Updates
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Install any available updates.
BIOS Update
Ensure your laptop’s BIOS is up to date, as some issues might stem from firmware bugs:
- Visit the HP support website and download the latest BIOS update for your model.
- Follow the instructions provided carefully to install it.
Reconfigure Hibernation
If you believe the adapter is stuck in a power-down state:
- Open Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type the following commands:
- powercfg -h off (Disables hibernation)
- powercfg -h on (Re-enables hibernation)
- Restart your laptop.
Use a USB WiFi Adapter (Temporary Solution)
If the issue persists and you urgently need WiFi access, you can use an external USB WiFi adapter as a stopgap measure.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
