HP Stream Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I am having trouble connecting to the wireless connection at my college. No one else seems to be experiencing the same problem. People sitting right next to me are able to connect to the network but no matter what I try, my computer keeps telling me its unable to connect. Seeing as no one else is having problems it leads me to believe I am just missing something, a setting somewhere.

I do not have this problem at home, it connects fine. I just connected to a hot spot generated by my phone and it connected just fine to that.

Help! Thanks in advance

If you cannot see the network, I suspect it might be 5 GHz.  You could ask others who are already connected. If you see the network, but connecting to it fails, it might be some other problem such as the Wifi driver needs to be reinstalled.

The original Stream notebooks could only connect to 2.4 GHz Wifi so make sure that is not the issue here.

How would I find that out? Would it tell me on my computer somewhere what kind of wifi it is?

After messing around with some of the settings under my schools wifi was able to find that they were connecting to a network that used both 2.4 and 5.0 but that I was able to select just 2.4 and now everything works fine! Problem solved. thank you
