Wifi adapter missing in Device Manager

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion x360 - 14-cd0087tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop's wifi has been getting disconnected frequently i.e. the Realtek wifi adapter gets disabled every now and then.  I can only get it working again by restarting the laptop several times or by doing a network reset. Today, however the wifi adapter is not even showing under hidden devices in Device Manager.

I tried installing the Realtek driver from HP support but even though the driver installation is getting completed, the wifi adapter is still not appearing. Don't know what else can I do. Please help.

There are newer drivers on the product series page.
