Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I just wanted to update my wifi card on my HP DV6 7014NR.

Which is the most recent wifi card option to replace the stock card which is the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230.

Thanks in advance.

You're very welcome.

On W10 it is plug and play.

On W7, it is probably not.

If you decide to swap out the card, download the W7 Intel wifi and Bluetooth drivers directly from the Intel site.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/75439/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260

Before installing the new card, uninstall the 2230 in the device manager by right clicking on it, select uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.

Do the same for the Intel Bluetooth adapter.

There should also be Intel Bluetooth software in the Windows Control Panel>Programs section.  Uninstall that as well and if there is an Intel wifi software package there, uninstall that too.

Shut down, unplug the PC, remove the battery, install the 7260 and the drivers you downloaded.

Here is the link to the service manual should you need it.

Hi:

You should be able to upgrade to this card...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part # 710661-001

The card is readily available on eBay or Amazon.

Do your search by the HP part number, not by the model number of the wireless card.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your help!

if I upgrade the wifi card with the recommended one should I update the drivers? Or is it just plug and play? Or my Windows 7 64bit  will search for the right driver as soon as the wifi card is installed?
