I can't connect to WiFi on my laptop. I can't connect in any way. I've tried everything. I've reset everything. I'm still trying. I still can't connect. Why is it showing "Not connected"?

Hi @rokoravik

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this—it’s incredibly frustrating when your laptop refuses to connect to Wi-Fi, especially after you've already tried everything. That “Not connected” message can feel like a dead end, but let’s walk through a focused recovery path to help you get back online.

Step-by-Step Fix for Wi-Fi “Not Connected” Status

1. Check Wireless Adapter Status

Sometimes the adapter is disabled or missing.

  • Press Windows + X → open Device Manager
  • Expand Network adapters
  • Look for your wireless adapter (e.g., Intel, Realtek, Qualcomm)
    • If it's disabled, right-click → Enable
    • If it's missing or has a warning icon, proceed to Step 3

2. Toggle Airplane Mode and Wi-Fi

  • Press Windows + A to open Quick Settings
  • Make sure Airplane Mode is off and Wi-Fi is turned on
  • Try reconnecting to your network manually

3. Reinstall or Update Wi-Fi Driver

Corrupted drivers can block connectivity.

4. Forget and Reconnect to Network

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks
  • Select your network → click Forget
  • Reconnect and re-enter your password

5. Run Network Troubleshooter

Windows can detect and fix hidden issues.

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
  • Run Internet Connections and Network Adapter

6. Reset Network Settings

This clears all network configurations.

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset
  • Click Reset now and restart your laptop

I understand how exhausting this has been, and I truly hope these steps help restore your connection. If you’d like help interpreting Device Manager or installing the driver, I’m here to assist.
