Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am experiencing a problem of screen freezing immediately after wifi disconnects and the ethernet icon appears with Red X sign on it( as shown in the attached picture). I changed the hard drive, and tried most of the solutions on the internet ie: changing power setting, booting the notebook without battery, system reset (Windows 10 bit64) and updating or resolving wireless adapter. Nothing works until now, and every time the problem occurs I force the laptop for shutdown or remove the battery. I can't use  my laptop for long time use. IMG-20190526-WA0008.jpeg

Hi:

What model wifi adapter does your notebook have?

If you don't know, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

There you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

Welcome mr. Paul

It is Broadcom BCM43142, 802.11 bgn WiFi Adapter. Recently I noticed that wifi internet connection was lost at a moment, then I disabled the wifi adapter, then I enabled it and the screen freezed again. I tried the maximum performance application to check if the problem comes from the graphics card, but it is not.

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.

Please do not post the serial number.

W10 probably installed the newest driver available but on some models, HP put the antenna cable on the wrong wifi terminal which affected the performance.

This particularly happened to many of the 250 G4 business class notebooks.

Model is: 15-p004nx and product number: J0C64EA#A2N

Hi:

Check the Broadcom wifi card in the device manager and let me know what version of the driver it has.

It should have 7.35.352.  That would be the lastest one from Microsoft.

The latest one HP has is this one...7.35.351

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78001-78500/sp78044.exe

If your notebook has an older driver than 7.35.351, try the one from HP.

If it has the most up to date driver, perhaps the wifi card is defective and you can open up the PC and ensure the single antenna cable is attached to the Main terminal on the broadcom wifi card.

If it is then you may want to replace the Broadcom wifi card with the Realtek equivalent card, which is this one...

Realtek RT8723BE 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter    HP part # 753077-005.

That model wifi card can be found on eBay.
