Hi all,

I have a problem with my Wifi on one of my Laptops. The problem started about 2 months ago. The sypmtoms are: I can start the Wifi adapter by clicking on the panel in the Windows task bar. I can see all available networks. However, after 2-3 secs the wifi turns off automatically. I can repeat this over and over, of course without succes.

The problem started to manifest itself with an intermediate step: every time the computer went into standby wifi switched off (it hasnt done that before) but I could simply switch it back on.

I have tried the common suggestions I found online: removing the device, the driver, check for updates on windows and wifi drivers. I have a strong suspicion that the problem started with a Windows update - I have tried rolling back to 1803, but without succes. The suspicion comes from the fact that my Wifi panel looks different. Attached is a screenshot of (what I believe was) the old network panel.

oldwifipanel.png

The screenshot is taken from my old elitebook (Windows 10 1803). The difference is that it now includes the option "turn wifi back on {manually, after 1hour, ....}".
I would like to go back to this one, is this possible? Could you please help me?

Thank you!

Best regards,

Erik

Hi everyone,

It works again. After days of trying all standard fixes, the suspicion of this strange "restart wifi..." appears to have been the problem.

There is an option to "reset network". It did not work on the first attempt, but I tried it again and my network panel looks like the old one again. There were no other steps I needed to take. So I don't fully know what this "reset network" does exactly but it works now 🙂

Have a good sunday,

Erik
