Microsoft Windows 11

The WiFi adapter is no longer accessible to establish WiFi connections in the Windows Task Pane. The Device Manager says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". HP PC Harware Diagnostics UEFI, component test, Wireless Module test says "passed", so it is apparently not a hardware issue. Restarting the notebook does not change the issue. Disabling and re-enabling the device in the Device Manager does not change the issue.

The problem first occurred after the notebook was woken up from some hibernation mode, so I suspect the WiFi adapter has ended up in some permanent power-down error state.

Similar issues were reported in this forum before, but I could not see an answer.

How can I access the WiFi adapter?

Solution:

Following the hp support chat, I disabled the WiFi adapter in the Windows Device Manager. Then I restarted the notebook. Then, after the system had rebooted, I re-enabled the WiFi adapter in the Windows Device Manager. Then the WiFi connections were working again, problem solved. Note that the restart between the disabling-enabling cycle seems to be an essential step, I had tried various combinations before which did not work.

See below the Device Manager screenshot, showing the error state, for reference:
