I have HP Pavilion with window 11. I have had trouble with wifi icon disappearing before and it always re-appeared after I either restart or shutting down the laptop. But this time, nothing has helped even after I tried everything I can find on internet. I have tried to restart my laptop in different spots using different wifi thought it could be the wifi problem, but it was not.
I have unable and enabled everything listed under network adapter from device manager, updated ExpressVPN TAP Adapter and ExpressVPN TUN Driver several times, tried to troubleshoot but it said ‘you’re connected using a virtual network adapter that we can’t test’, reset network, and etc. but nothing has solved the issue. I checked all devices status and all devices are working properly. However, when I go into Network and Sharing Center and go under Change Adapter Settings, ExpressVPN TAP Adapter and Local Area Connection gave X mark and shows Network cable unplugged. I only have connected my laptop with wifi which I think would be considered as wireless, so I don’t know why it said network cable is unplugged. After I disable and enabled the adapter and the driver several times, nothing changed.
After I trying everything I can do, I saw someone saying reinstalling adapter might help, so I uninstalled ExpressVPN TAP Adapter and restarted laptop hoping laptop would automatically reinstall the adapter. Unfortunately, it did not happen and now I cannot find ExpressVPN TAP Adapter.
I followed these steps
‘Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. Perform Component Test > Network.
and it said ‘UEFI Networking does not appear to be supported or enabled on the system. Please check the BIOS settings to make sure UEFI
network option ROMs are enabled and that UEFI network boot is enabled.’ under wired network check and ‘© Wireless Module Check : NOT INSTALLED, Component Test : WARNING
These results are saved in the Test Logs which can be accessed from the Main Menu. Press Escape (esc) to go back to main menu or click on
the button below. You can collect the System Diagnostics log by going to Main Menu -> Test Logs -> Save Logs.
Current Version: 8.7.0.0
For more information and updates, please go to www.hp.com/go/techcenter/PCDiags.‘ under wireless module test.
At this point, I think this issue is coming from the adapter and the driver, but I have no idea what to do next.
