HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-fh0000 (9F2C2AV)

Hello,

I bought a new Omnibook Flip and have been having problems with the Wi-Fi from the very beginning.

All updates (BIOS, Windows, drivers, etc.) are installed.

I’ve noticed that I don’t have any problems when the power cord is plugged in.

However, when I unplug the power cord and run on battery power, the Wi-Fi connection drops every 2 seconds.

This prevents me from loading web pages normally. I recorded a video with and without the power cord plugged in. I also ran a speed test to illustrate my problem for you.

Can you help me, or is this a hardware issue that means I need to exchange the laptop?

My Problem (Notebook without Power Cable) - Speedtest drops every 2 Seconds; no Download of content:

All works fine (Notebook with the plugged in Power Cable) - Speedtest works fine and I have a stable connection:

Hi  @morpheus2026,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your concern, don’t worry let me help you with this.

Thank you for providing such detailed information, the videos could not be opened (error - file not found). I understand how this must feel on a brand-new HP OmniBook Ultra Flip, dont worry let me check and help you with this.

Could you kindly confirm the below details :

  • Are you connected to a 2.4 GHz network, 5 GHz network, or Wi-Fi 6/6E router?
  • Does the issue occur on all Wi-Fi networks, such as a mobile hotspot, or only on your home network?
  • Have you noticed whether Bluetooth devices are connected when the issue occurs?
  • When the connection drops on battery power, does the Wi-Fi icon disconnect completely, or does it remain connected but lose data throughput?
  • Have you already tested the notebook in Safe mode Networking ?  (Link for steps - Click here )

In the meantime, kindly try the following troubleshooting steps and confirm:

  1. Disable Wi-Fi Power Saving
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand Network adapters.
    • Right-click your wireless adapter and select Properties.
    • Go to the Power Management tab.
    • Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    • Click OK and restart the notebook.
  2. Change Wireless Adapter Power Settings
    • Open Control Panel -Power Options.
    • Select your active power plan and choose Change advanced power settings.
    • Expand Wireless Adapter Settings > Power Saving Mode.
    • Set both On battery and Plugged in to Maximum Performance.
    • Apply the changes and restart the system.
  3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (Link for steps for hardware UEFI test - click here )
    • Restart the notebook and repeatedly press F2 at startup.
    • Run the Wireless Module Test and note the results.
  4. Perform a Network Reset
    • Go to Settings -Network & Internet -Advanced network settings > Network reset.
    • Restart the PC after the reset completes.
  5. Reinstall the Wireless Driver
    • In Device Manager, uninstall the Wi-Fi adapter and check Delete the driver software for this device if available.
    • Restart the notebook and install the latest Wi-Fi driver from HP's support page https://support.hp.com/  for your model.

Based on your description, especially since the connection becomes stable immediately when AC power is connected, this may be related to wireless adapter power management rather than a hardware defect. However, the diagnostic results will help determine whether a repair should be considered.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
